Are you one of the 40 000 000 invisible women in our society

It's a sad but true fact that so many women over forty feel invisible. Changing this has become my passion. One of the things that inspired me to do what I now do, after having had an executive position with a telecom giant, was an experience I had one day following one of my seminars. An attractive, well dressed woman came up to me and told me that the thing she hated most about becoming older was that she felt invisible. She explained how, everywhere you look, you see woman in their twenties and thirties being presented as role models for beauty and style. Rarely do you see mature women in TV and print ads and some of the fashion magazines feature teenagers as models. There's only one magazine devoted entirely to the mature woman - More Magazine. Just because we're getting older doesn't mean we have to become an invisible part of society. It doesn't mean we we have to let ourselves go, gain weight and start looking frumpy. My late aunt Josie, while in her eighties, looked like she just stepped off the cover of Vogue whenever she went out. A woman can still look great as she ages if . . . she learns how to do it. Many of the makeup techniques that work on a twenty or thirty year old, are a disaster on the face of a forty five year old woman. Unfortunately, many older women have not yet learned this. As we age, one of the makeup secrets we need to know is that "Less is better." Mistakes in wardrobe are even more apparent. Recently, I was asked by a national magazine to comment on some celebrity women. Here's what I had to say about an outfit that Kim Catrall, who I happen to adore, was wearing: "Belly bearing cutoffs and lace up top are not for the over forty woman. Longer, boy cut shorts and a fuller cut tank with a built-in bra would give her the same bare look." Below are some fashion anchors every woman over forty should have in her wardrobe: - A “Little Black Dress” - Black/Navy Pencil or A-Line Skirt - Black/Navy Slacks/Trousers - Black Cashmere Sweater - White Shirt - Comfortable yet Chic Black 2” heels - Classic Trench Coat Fashion tips: Pants with clean lines, no pockets, no pleats look best on almost every woman because they are slimming. Black or navy will make you look thinner, but add some color with accessories to give your look some flair. Elastic waist pants or skirts are to be avoided at all costs because they flatter no one. Develop a signature. Wear a favorite ring or special bracelet all the time. Something people will always identify and remember about you. The scarf should be a wardrobe staple. Learn how to use it and wear it many ways, such as, looped through your pants as a belt, or tied on the handle of your handbag. If you want to learn all my insider techniques for looking fabulous after forty, fifty, sixty and beyond, visit: LookingFabulousAfter40.com Until next time, keep looking your best and claim your power.

Your first time brazilian bikini wax

First, you must be sure that you want to get a brzailian bikini wax. Consider trying first the standard bikini wax which will remove the hair from your bikini line or the full bikini which will remove most of your pubic hair apart from the most sensitive areas. A brazilian bikini wax removes ALL your pubic hair. We advice you to get your first brazilian bikini wax by a professional. Many women who try to give themselves a brazilian bikini wax, cause damage and their bikini area looks worse after the brazilian wax. You could find a salon that offers a brazilian bikini wax in any big US city. Just look in the “Yellow pages” or in any search engine for “brazilian wax” + “name of your city”. After locating a salon, find out how many brazilian waxes they do a week? Make sure that the persons who are responsible for the brazilian bikini wax are experienced. Ask to talk to customers that got a brazilian bikini wax from the same salon. Open your purse. A brazilian bikini wax may cost up to 100 US dollars. However, the average cost is about 50 bucks. We advice you pay not less than the average price to get a professional treatment. Come to your scheduled treatment with a good mood after taking a warm shower cleaning your pubic area. You will get into a separate room or a hole with a curtain. Then you will lie on a bed with your knees up or legs down. Then, the therapist will trim down your pubic hair with scissors to a length of about a quarter inch. Afterwards, the real thing will start. The waxer will start the waxing process. He will use a low temperature wax to cause less pain. When the wax cools he will pull it out with your pubic hair. This part is the most painful one. However, the first time is the most painful one. The hair can be pulled out easier in the following times. The waxer will ask you to get into some weird uncomfortable positions – holding your legs up, to the side and even over your head. If the waxer is a good one the painful part will end quickly. If you feel it takes too long or that the pain is unbearable, just tell the therapist that you need a little rest. When the waxing is done a soothing lotion should be applied to the pubic area. Your bikini area will stay smooth for at least 3 weeks with no maintenance at all. Make the most out of it.

Common pregnancy complications

Complication during pregnancy is more common than most people think. Even for those who are healthy and have had children before, early pregnancy complications could arise, at no fault to anyone. This article explains some of these complications and what to watch out for. Early pregnancy complications When you find you are pregnant, the first thing you must do is go see your obstetrician/gynecologist. They will perform an ultrasound to make sure that your pregnancy is advancing as it should. Regular visits to your OBGYN will prevent early pregnancy complications or at the very least, help identify them at an early stage. The two most common pregnancy complications are: Ectopic pregnancies Ectopic pregnancies are one of the most common early complications. Ectopic pregnancies refer to pregnancies in which the egg is fertilized outside the womb so the fetus begins to develop in the ovary or in the fallopian tube. This can be very dangerous not only for the fetus but also for the mother. If surgery is not performed, the tubes could burst and result in internal bleeding and in some cases, even death. Miscarriages Complication during pregnancy can lead to miscarriages, another common early pregnancy complication. Sometimes the cervix can open causing heavy bleeding with intense cramping pains. Other times, the baby can die in early pregnancy. When this happens, the mother can either wait for a miscarriage to occur or have a D&C. There are many different complications during pregnancy that can cause this to happen: blood clotting, infection, structural problems, or lifestyle choices such as smoking, alcohol or high caffeine intake. High risk pregnancy A pregnancy that is categorized as high risk is one which has a higher chance of complications arising. You may be considered high risk if you are carrying multiple babies, have a long term illness such as diabetes, or are over the age of 35. If you are high risk, you may be asked to visit your obstetrician more regularly as the pregnancy will need to be more closely monitored than usual. Pregnancy over 35 It is not uncommon for a woman’s fertility to be affected over the age of 30 and once you are pregnant, you must be aware that it is more common for complications to arise. The chances of your child bearing birth defects are significantly higher than those women who are under 30 and miscarriages also become more common in the first trimester of older pregnant women. For those over 35, there will also be an increased risk of diabetes and high blood pressure. Don’t worry, as with today’s technology, almost all these complications can be treated as long as they are spotted early on. Multiple pregnancies A multiple pregnancy is one in which there are two or more fetuses. It’s considered to be high risk because with more than one fetus, it has a higher chance of developing complications. Almost half of twins that are born are premature with extremely low birth weights and underdeveloped organs. This makes them very vulnerable and it is not uncommon for only one twin to survive. Twins who share a placenta could result in high amounts of amniotic fluids. It is important to keep this information regarding early pregnancy complications in mind during pregnancy and to regularly consult your doctor.

Organic skin care products

More women are in the market for organic skincare products. The trend toward organic is growing; Walmart has recently publicized its intention to increase its offering of organic food by 50%, and more people are extending their interest in organic products to organic skincare products in addition to food. After all, what you put on your body is just as essential as what you put into your body, since it is absorbed into the skin, and organic skincare products work effectively without all of the chemicals, which can cause health problems. Like all organic products, organic skincare products come from all natural products and contain no harmful chemicals. Organic skin care products are held to the same standards as organic food products, and the US. Department of Agriculture has recently released guidelines concerning the labeling of organic products. If something is labeled 100% organic, it must contain all organic products. However, if a product is labeled as simply “organic” it can contain up to 5% of non-organic material. This small percentage is often not a huge concern for most consumers, but for very strict adherents to organic products, 5% can make a difference in whether they purchase the product or not. If the label says that the products is “made with organic ingredients” it must have at least 70% organic material in it. Depending on how adamant you are about purchasing organic skin products, you will want to inspect the label before buying. If you are shopping on the web, you can find out whether or not something is 100% organic by consulting the site or asking the webmaster. All organic products, including organic skincare products are made from materials that are grown on soil that has been certified as pesticide-free for at least 3 years. Organic skincare products are made without: · Synthetic pesticides · Insecticides · Herbicides · fungicides · hormones · chemical fertilizers There has been some talk that the FDA is warning cosmetic companies to eliminate dangerous chemicals in their products, or their goods will carry labels, similar to the warning labels on cigarettes. Many dyes and other chemicals found in non-organic cosmetics and skincare products are hazardous and carcinogenic, and as one proponent of organic skincare products comments, “If you knew what was in your skin cream or foundation, you would never want to have it anywhere near your face!” A traditional skincare treatment program places about 100 chemicals on a woman’s face, many of them hazardous. Organic skincare products can function the same way, but without the chemicals. You can find organic skincare products which: · exfoliate · cleanse · condition · nourish the skin · hydrate the skin · moisturize · purify the skin Many organic skincare products are made from cold-pressed, unrefined oils, herb and flower extracts and from organic fruits, nuts and seeds. Peach pits can make an excellent exfoliating scrub to scour dead skin cells and renew one’s complexion. Citrus fruits refresh and revive the skin, and mud masks purify the pores. A popular choice is a cleanser with orange peel oil, calendula and marshmallow. You can also find an exfoliant with bergmont and orange, or a conditioner made of hazel, burdock, plantain and vitamins. A rosewater spray hydrates skin that becomes dry from indoor heating in the winter and the sun in the summer. Many women who use organic skincare products say that their skin feels even more fresh and pure after using organic products, and that they do not want to switch to their old non-organic brands. Another advantage to using organic skincare products is that, since they are made from plant oil, herbs, flowers and fruit, they often combine skincare with a pleasing fragrance. This means that you can combine skincare with aromatherapy. The orange and bergamont skin cleanser not only refreshes your skin but can lift your mood as well!

Things you should know about a molar pregnancy

Pregnancy is an exciting time for any woman, but with the many pregnancy complications out there, it can also be scary for first time mothers. It has been reported that one in every thousand pregnancies in the U. S. is a molar pregnancy, which makes it one of the most common pregnancy complications for women today. What is a molar pregnancy? This occurs when a sperm fertilizes an empty egg. Even though it’s empty, it continues to develop and a placenta is formed despite there being no fetus. The hormone HCG is also produced which fools the body into thinking that there is a pregnancy when there is only placenta. A partial molar pregnancy occurs when two sperms fertilize an egg. However, instead of forming twins, in this type of pregnancy, something goes wrong and an abnormal fetus and placenta is developed instead. As there is double the sperm, the fetus receives too many chromosomes and instead may die in the womb. Molar pregnancy symptoms One of the first molar pregnancy signs you may notice is spotting which could lead to heavier bleeding. Depending on the severity of the case, the bleeding may start as early as 6 weeks into the pregnancy or as late as 12. Another common sign of this type of pregnancy is nausea, abdominal cramping and swelling. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms and feel as though your pregnancy may be molar, don’t hesitate to consult your doctor. Molar pregnancy treatments A D&C (dilatation and curettage) will be used for treatment. This is a safe procedure in which a small vacuum is inserted into the uterus to remove the placental parts. However, great care must still be taken as not to provoke any excessive bleeding or blood clots. This type of pregnancy can recur as some women may just be prone to them. If this is the case and after your first such pregnancy, you have another, consult your doctor about special treatments to prevent this from happening again. Molar pregnancies are a tragic way to lose a child, but having one does not mean you are never going to have another baby again. Make sure you are aware of molar pregnancy symptoms and regularly go to the doctor for consultations.
